Inspired by her close environment, in particular her home on a cliff-top at Birling Gap on the south coast of England, Patterson’s works are infused with the brilliant light and vibrant colours of her coastal setting.
A talented draughtsman as well as colourist, the exhibition includes a group of drawings in charcoal describing the surrounding landscape, and still-lifes with a lightness of touch, deep skill, and sensitivity to the subject visible throughout Patterson’s oeuvre.

British artist Jane Patterson trained at the Slade School of Fine Art from 1973-77, under the tutelage of Patrick George.
