“My paintings never set out to be precise representations but are expressions of the changing rhythm and colour in a landscape. I have lived in rural mid Wales for over forty years, so these surroundings are steeped in my subconscious – and invariably surface in my pictures.”
Kate Corbett-Winder is an English artist who uses the garden as a laboratory for her paintings. Her flower beds are constantly evolving, living palettes for experiments in colour, shape, texture, and light which she translates on to paper and canvas. She draws outside, the landscape, as well as flowers, but usually paints in a studio where it is easier to capture the essence of a place or season at a remove from nature.
Born in 1956, Corbett-Winder lives in Montgomeryshire, mid Wales, and has exhibited in London since 2009. Having had solo exhibitions at the Sladmore Gallery, Jonathan Clark Fine Art, and Long & Ryle, she has recently moved to Browse & Darby.
