"My paintings are about an interaction with nature. Nature being subject matter observed in time and space. They are still-lifes, yet they chart movement. A mahl stick is often used to steady the brush in hand and allow for subtle yet confident adjustments of marks to try to correspond to nature perceived. Sometimes the marks take on a more urgent or impatient emphasis, sometimes denoting the impossibility of finding perfection on the painted surface." - Ben Henriques
