Victoria Crowe OBE, DHC, FRSE, MA (RCA), RSA, RSW recently contributed to the collaborative project entitled A Parallel Journey, in which the artist was invited to create an animated panorama that was projected behind a performance of Schubert’s Die Winterreise, staged at Snape Maltings in Aldeburgh, and the Wigmore Hall in London.
Furthermore, Victoria has been working on a commission to decorate the new Dining Hall of the Worshipful Company of Leathersellers in the City of London. Her winning tapestry design, which was chosen above a roster of proposals from other renowned artists, measures a staggering forty metres and was woven by the Dovecot Studio in Edinburgh. It hangs along the upper part of three of the walls, with an iconography which draws upon the rich history of the Company and illustrates the beautiful mix of tradition and history within Eric Parry’s contemporary architectural design.
The artist will be exhibiting her work in a solo show at Browse & Darby, opening on 4th May 2017. The exhibition will include a series of new paintings, completed in her studios in Venice and Scotland. In addition, there will also be her preparatory sketches relating to the Winterreise performance and the tapestry for the Worshipful Company of Leathersellers on view.
